    Fire Fighting for Pressure Vessels

    Hello everyone,

    Here is my deal.

I'm designing all equipment for an Amine Regeneration Plant. I have a doubt if I have to design a Water Spray Deluge System for the Rich Amine Flash Drum. This drum is filled with MDEA with high H2S content, also blanketed with fuel gas.

The other doubt is regarding the Rich Amine Filters if they will or won't need the use of a spray deluge system.

Thanks in advance to anyone that can enlight me.

    Best regards...

    hi
logically deluge system used for protecting equipment in case of fire.
for amine flash drum which doesn't exist probable fire case so doesn't need spray deluge system.

    Thank you mh_mahmoodieh,

The situation is that I have pumps, drums, cartridge and carbon filters, regenerator (distillation tower), S&T HE and air coolers. All of them handling a MDEA solution (38.710% MDEA, 57.824% H2O and 3.330% H2S approximately).

My biggest conffusion is if this MDEA solution can be treated as a combustible or flammable liquid, and based on which standard can I judge the mixture.

On the other hand, the flash drum I wrote about is blanketed with fuel gas....I think this represent a fire risk...

Thanks in advance mh_mahmoodieh you have been of great help...

If its possible please contact me to gerardosrez@gmail.com and we can discuss more deeply this matter because I'm developing a new refinery project and this is a big concern.
