Trends today are for multicore CPUs or integrated CPU-GPU or low-power chips.
The traditional CPU is fading away.
Now I come across algorithms in my field that only work single-threaded. So I am stuck.
I need a faster CPU.
Intel hasn't progressed much since Sandy Bridge.
AMD has failed miserably.
ARM still doesn't have a CPU for brute-force number crunching.
