Flowing Tubing Pressure in Liquid Loaded Natural Gas Wells

    Hey everyone,

I'm a production engineer working in South Texas, and I am dealing with a lot of wells that are loaded up with liquid.

My question is how should the flowing tubing pressure respond as the well loads up with liquid?

Any formulas or information you guys have access to would be great!

    Thanks,

    Davu

Typically, you should get wellhead tubing pressures significantly lower than in water free gas well. Because in water loaded well you have more dense fluid in tubing, which require large pressure drop between flowing bottom-hole pressure and wellhead pressure to move water from well.
If your well is severely slugging and close to self-killing conditions, you would observe pulse behavior of wellhead pressures. When slug arrives to the surface, tubing pressure would be a little higher. When slug is growing at the bottom of the well and free gas coming to the surface, tubing pressures would be a little lower.

I suggest you to read on this subject “Gas Well Deliquification Handbook” – here is the link -
