  1. Fresh Graduate "Petroleum Engineer" Needing Some Career Advice.

    hello,

I've just graduated with B.Sc. In Petroleum Engineering, and i would like to pursuit a career in well drilling and planning but my knowledge about opportunities available for fresh graduates is very little. i confused and i don't which will be better for me to learn and get experience that can help my career owner or services companies.

So if someone with any experience would be kind enough to tell me about job titles that i should be seeking which suit my status, or what is the first step "job" that normally fresh graduates gets in drilling and what steps follow?. and what are the job titles for drilling in both owner and services companies.

One last thing i may be able to get a job interview at Baker Huges but i don't know which drilling Services branch that might suitable for me, so any advice would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks

Industry is in the downturn. If I were you, I will get a job even if it is a mud logger. If you can land a job with 3 major service providers, it will be a good start. Schlumberger, Baker and Halliburton.

Normally Baker will recruit you for either Wireline engineer, MWD/ LWD engineer, Directional Driller or Mud Engineer. Baker used to have a mud logging service called Xlog but I assumed it's no longer exist. Check on their website.

It depends on which continent and country you are in.
