Thread: Minimum Distance Between Feed Nozzle and Tray Downcomer

  1. Minimum Distance Between Feed Nozzle and Tray Downcomer

    Hello all,

Would any of you know the recommended distance (vertically) between the top of a feed nozzle and the bottom of the tray's above downcomer for a vapor feed stream in a distillation tower?

The inlet nozzle centerline to the bottom of the tray should not be less than 12 inches. For a vapor feed, where depending on the inlet velocity head you might need a vapor distributör I would make that distance at least 18 inches.
