Thread: Storage volume calculation for Onshore and Offshore Terminals

  1. Storage volume calculation for Onshore and Offshore Terminals

The above mentioned subject highlighted today in order to discussed and see what are the recommendations for calculating net and useful storage capacity volumes
Needed for Onshore and Offshore Terminals
, in order to receive and to deliver production in our terminals. Special offshore terminals
The calculated volume will be considered for nominal production with defined hypotheses and lifting parcels. These hypotheses will then be analysed to determine the convenient storage Volume.
In particular, an associated maximum allowable deadweight calculation for the (FPSO) hull will be also defined for offshore terminals.

  3. Considerations for Calculating Storage Volumes at Terminals

    1. Type of Hydrocarbon , Its density at various Temperatures to be known
    2. All transactions to be done at 15 Deg C Temp. Accordingly Temperature correction required.
    3. Assume No tank shall be under Floating condition (ie. Rundown / Des***** at same time)
    4. Assume 1 tank capacity always under Maintenence.
    5. Assume 10% Excess Capacity.

  5. Mr Salem, I am not an expert on offshore terminals but I think like for onshore you should also consider the capacity of tanker where the product will be offloaded and a reasonable offloading frequency (or quantity of tankers involved and distances).
For onshore is also usual to take into consideration possible offloading delays due to sea and climatic conditions.
