Ultrasonic thickness Testing (UTT) with automatic crawler is a very useful and fast technique for AST corrosion inspection. But there is not official standard to carry on this item..only useful guidelines such as API 653 or ASME Section V or STI SP001 (see file in attachment). I've one question for brothers in this forum: do you know the right "extension scanning rate" of bottom and shell AST?
How many scan points per sqr ft should we've to take? Do you think 15 points per sqr ft is enough and then, once these data are collected, should we proceed with some statistical analysis software (as EVA)?...Yes I know..I've made much more than one question...
Waiting around for your suggestions
Thank you
MG
