I would be grateful id anybody in the forum could give me a good advice or indicate a reliable literature basis to understand if there can be problems regarding the installation of below grade piping in Stainless Steel?

Somebody told me that in buried condition without presence of oxygen the protective oxide layer on SS surface cannot form or is very weak exposing the metal to corrosion

I am quite doubtful on this position since the pipe, anyway would be externally coated and with cathodic protection, furthermore without oxygen I cannot understand how oxydation can proceed.

The soil is desertic (dry sand), so there is no presence of water or clorides.
