can someone help me with a fluid package? I'm trying to run a simulation of separating ethanol and water. which fluid package should i use? currently using UNIQUAC. feed is at normal temperature and atmospheric pressure.
thank you

Hi Johan07;Ethanol and water are miscible. But if you want to simulate a component distribution you should chose the NRTL package. If Interaction parameters are missing you can use the UNIFAC method to estimate it. Additionally, ethanol and water have an azeotropic point at 95%wt of ethanol. You can test theses thermodynamics packages using Aspen COMThermo Workbench, if the azeotropic point is simulated…bingo!! Have you got more than two components?. If you need more help, send me an e-mail. manuegr@gmail.com.
(sorry for my poor English)

Hello
My suggestion is to use NRTL , I used this in PRO/II (Alchool package) and I guess the same thing applies to Hysys.
