According to Wikipedia: In 1859 Robert Chesebrough, a young chemist, took a a black "rod wax" that was found on drills and refined it until it became a clear gel known as petroleum jelly.

Is this the same process used today to make petroleum jelly or is there some other modern method for acquiring and refining it now? Can you get petroleum jelly through fractional distillation?
