for as thesis I would rather suggest a different approach,
instead to use a poorly documented black box as the pipeline object in a simulator (which you will not able to understand, but only execute)
I would prefer to write my own pipe segment with Matlab or Basic/C/Fortran code,
inside your pipe segment code include the correlations for heat transfer (between phases and with pipe wall), you can choose between different models for fluid flow and heat transfer.
You can use the simulator for fluid properties and for solving flash operations,
for a similar model I have used a different tool (PRODE PROPERTIES) but I think you can link Matlab with Hysys as I did with PRODE.
Once you have solved the initial condition you start the depressurization of the CO2 transport pipeline,
tools as MATLAB include many mathematical solvers so it is not difficult to integrate a simplified model (or directly the rigorous model).
