Alignment Drawing or General Arrangement Drawing?

In a pipeline design project that does not span more than 2km, is it necessary to have an alignment drawing? I think a GA drawing should suffice.

Alignment Sheets are more helpful and explainable for pipelines because these illustrates pipeline elevations and locations on different but continuous intervals (normally at 25m or 30m span).
