Material balance in tight reservoir

hi any body can explain me why material balance is not possible in tight reservoir. if possible what are the equation and logics to carry out material balance.

Think about it. What does simple MB type approaches rely upon? Compressibility, Volume and Pressure

Compressibility and Volumes are still OK - what about pressure? You have to supply an AVERAGE reservoir pressure - what is the average reservoir pressure in a tight reservoir? In a tight reservoir you'll likely see rapid depletion around a well and interpret that as a very small reservoir volume, yet you'll drill 2 well spacings away and see some minor depletion

Material balance does work - indeed it is embedded in reservoir simulation calcs - its the assumption that you can easily determine the average reservoir pressure that breaks down in tight reservoirs.
