Thread: Some Eclipse help for a beginner

  1. Some Eclipse help for a beginner

    Hey guys,

I'm trying to learn and master Eclipse, I've looked through the guide, but wanted to know if I could ask a question. I'm trying to implement a waterflood using Eclipse. So I'm new to all this, if I'm asking any silly questions, please do point that out/correct me!

I'm trying to create a grid on Eclipse, how do I start doing that?

I'd like to know how to create a basic 2D grid and then I'd like to create a bit of a heterogeneous grid, something like this:

    __
    40gridblocks (gb)
    __
    __ <20gb
    40gb
    __

So essentially I'd like to have it 200gb by 3 layers with 40gb, 20gb and 40gb. I'd like to try something with varying perm and poro values. I'd like to know if someone could guide me with creating a grid in Eclipse, essentially.

I've looked at the step-by-step guide, and Chapter 1 essentially states 'Static model the model which comes from any prepost'

    Please and thank you!

Ashwin, in order to have your first approach to Eclipse I suggest you to check in first place the data files that come along with Eclipse (search your installation folder, Eclipse, data folder). Read any data file carefully with the Reference Manual at hand, try to understand what every keyword says, then run the model and visualize it using FloViz, re-read the data file and check that what has been written is also shown in the 3D window. There are plenty of examples in that folder, at the end you'll be able to build a simple grid by entering the code directly to the data file.
