Thread: My well does not produce (Eclipse)

  1. Question My well does not produce (Eclipse)

    Hi all..

I'm trying to run a simulation for my oil-water model on Eclipse. After I draw my grid and filled my data, I operate RUN and there were some warnings saying that the well pressure is too low to produce. When I tried to check RESULT, the oil in place is constant and there is no production.

I believe the problem is in the schedule but I don't know where exactly. Can anybody help? I just want to get the well to produce for about 4-6 years even if parameters like prod. rate and adding an injecting well had been added.

    This is my model

try to move well where oil is (eg i-17, j-10)
    also:
WCONPROD item #9 set BHP target or lower limit at 3905psi while in EQUIL reservoir pressure at datum is 3725psi, reduce BHP?

My first impression just after reading your question was what i-anuar pointed out, i.e. your BHP limit (item #9 in keyword WCONPROD) is too high. Reduce it, that will allow fluid flow into the well. How much should be this reduction? Your minimum BHP control (for prediction) must be set based on current or expected well operations.

  6. Re: My well does not produce (Eclipse)

I tried changing I & J for the well as well as reducing or defulting BHP but it still doesn't work. The only thing improving it is injection well but still, reservoir pressure just drop sharply. I think I need an option to shut down the well periodically or maybe my PVT data are just too missed up.
    Thanx anyway 4 u both.

Re: My well does not produce (Eclipse)

    Hi guanyu4u,

if i change well location and default BHP limit (default=0, unrealistic, needs to be higher) i get ~29 thousands bbls produced. this is ~36% recovery factor which is not bad for aquifer/depletion.

there were guite a few 'problems' messages, i suspect due to rel perm tables. look how small some values are.

    regards
