I'm wondering if anyone could help me to find a reference for measuring tolerance of swelling (or whatever you call it) of some sketch areas of the plates of bottom plates of storage tanks?

Actually some parts of bottom plates having a thickness of appr. 24 mm got swelled during the welding time or fabrication time that can be easily noticed.
Now our Client says that you should provide tolerance for such distortions.
