Dear all,
I want to start a new thread to discuss about pipeline depressurization philosophy. Does anyone have experience about this, please share with me. Thank you so much in advance.

good topic
Dear couleugues, what do you think about manual depressurisation of gas pipeline 10000 meters long and 24" NPS (Sch80). Gas - 97% CH4. The problem is depressurizate it in 2 hours, What will be Flare stack diameters and do I need install an orifice on inlet piping?
You will need to provide more information than that - specifically what pressure is the pipeline at?
And yes, you will likely need an orifice, otherwise your flare system will be huge.

We are in discussions about the safe distance for locating the pipeline depressurization vent location in our pigging stations.
Could some of the respected and knowlegeable members of this forum give us some guidance/pointers/references in the right direction.
