Thread: IP (ingress protection)

  1. IP (ingress protection)

    Dear u,
i have just recently met a problem while working.
There is a explosion proof - indicating temperature switch, explosion type: EExd IIB T6. However, catalog of this instrument didn't mention anything about IP (ingress protection). I wonder if a instrument has explosion type: EExd IIB T6, is it mean that IP has to meet a requirement by default, ex: minimum IP56... or not? Please advise.
I have met many instruments which explosion type is EExd IIB T6 & they always complete with IP65, 66 or better.
    Many thanks!

I am also working on Explosion Proof Instrumentation. It must mentioned the ingress protection. Explosion Proof Instrument does not mean that it is also weather proof. So ingress protection class must be mentioned in catalogue and on data plate of instrument.
