Lightning on underground pipelines

Hi,

I'm looking for consequences of lightning hitting underground pipelines.

I know they can be catastrophic.

Not too much on the net, and I'd like to know if there are here anyone with experience on how it looks like the consequences on the steel material ?

Does the damage on the pipeline looks like a pitting ? Does any one have pictures of it ?
