Waterflooding: Where to put my injection wells?

Hi guys,

Hope you can help me with this. I need to plan the location for my injection wells. I know one way to decide the best location for a well is creating a hydrocarbon map and KH Map in Eclipse. The question is, how to do it? And what sort of things/elements/properties I have to pay attention to? I'm new, I hope you guys can help. Thanks!

Understand your geology and structure first - the rest should follow logically. Yes, Kh and HCPV maps are very useful, but they dont necessarily have to come from Eclipse - you can create then in Petrel or many other mapping packages. If it is secondary recovery after primary production in which significant watercut evolution has already taken place, then some simulation/understanding will need to be incorporated to determine what the HCPV looks like prior to water flooding (ie what is already swept and why)

Eclipse can indeed be a useful tool, especially when you are trading off cost vs recovery under competing constraints, but the accuracy of the answer will still be heavily dependant upon your understanding of the geology and structure
