    Liquid Hold up %

    Dear engineers
what's the formula and meaning of the Liquid Hold up % in pipesim? Is it the percentage of pipe area occupied by liquid to the total pipe area?

Hi, yes, holdup is simply the ratio of volumes (or area in same pipe) of one phase to the others present, so is volume of liquid divided by total volume (or area) at any instant. Holdup, therefore, ignores any slippage velocity between the phases, so is not cut, which is the flowrate of one phase versus total flowrate.
