    Straight Run Diesel Composition

who can help me to give one SR diesel composition obtained in a standard refinery? I need this for one project and this fuel is burned in a gas turbine.
All info that can be sent is very useful.

    thanks for all colaboration

  3. Hi Jose,
"Straight Run Diesel", you must be already knowing, is a mixture of hydrocarbons with similar boiling ranges. Anything above C5 or C6 (gasoline, jet, diesel, gasoil etc) are all classified as per their boiling range and the propoerties of their respective fractions

For Diesel, properties would be defined as IBP - maybe 280 deg.C - 380 deg.c, cetane, sulphur (10 - 15 ppm) etc. In short, kind of impossible to give a specific composition of SR Diesel.

For burning in turbine in power plants, the GT vendor will ask for heating value, End point (ASTM - D95) , metal content (Na,Ni+Va) and sulphur. These should be enough for the GT vendor (ofcourse best is to contact the vendor, most will help you)

  5. The Gas Turbine Perfomance by Walsh & Fletcher gives the following guideline:
Diesel fuel is a heavier faction of crude oil than kerosene, again comprising a band of hydrocarbons, with an average composition of C12.9 H23.9 and molecular weight of 178.6.
    LHV is 42,600 kJ/kg

thanks for all for this contribution. Because i project power plants in one Refinery i need also information about

Refinery solid wastes for incineration purposes. Who can give me the quantity wastes for one Refinery of 200.000 barrels/day ? And what are the suppliers for this type of equipent.

    Thanks

  7. By refinery solid waste for power generation, I'm assuming that the refinery has some kind of coking unit and that you will burn the coke. Again depends on the type of heavy oil etc. there are a couple of things to consider, if you want to use a GT, you probably need a gasifier to burn the coke and generate syn gas which will be burned and then used in a GT.
