1. How I create a Grand Composite Curve for a column in HYSYS? (ex. plot Column Stage number / Enthalpy or Duty or Heat content)How to interpret the curve GCC?

2. How I think COLDBOX - heat exchanger - 3 HOT / 4 Cold ? Temperature of flows ? I know 7 Temp IN and 4 Out ? How do I set the temperature for the three remaining streams?


3. How I establish the position of 1-2 side reboilers and 3-4 feed stages @ demethanizer column?
What method ?

4. Which is a design methodology for a demethanizer column?

Hi,

I will try to answer the 3rd question. For placing the side reboilers / different feed stages, one option will be to check any existing design of the column and place the stages / side reboilers. Then try plotting a Mccable Thiele diagram (I think option is there in Hysys with a added macro / file extension) and see if there is composition pinch. In case you encounter pinch, then try changing the locations and see if you can avoid the pinch. One suggestion is to read Distillation Design by Kister. He gives good methodologies and may help you.
