Thread: Starting a New Process Equipment Design Firm

  1. Starting a New Process Equipment Design Firm

    Engineering Consultancy Services Plan:
    Types of Equipments for Design:

    a) Agitated Thin Film Evaporators
    b) Agitated Thin Film Dryers
    c) Short Path Distillation Units
    d) Rising Film Evaporators
    e) Falling Film Evaporators
    f) Forced Circullation Evaporators
    g) Liquid-Liquid Extractors
    h) Distillation Columns
    i) Zero Discharge system for Effluents

Can anyone help me with the design of equipment (sizing, scaling, modeling, working, etc)? i already designed Evaporators, i need the design for rest all.

    Thank You in advance

  5. It's scary that you think you are qualified to be a consultant on equipment that you need someone else to provide the design for.

all mentioned items are tialor made type. You can not say you have designed evaporators. For what? from what % to what % also
Probably one can help on case to case basis but making business model out of forum help not a sound idea as per me.

  7. Well i have already designed Forced Circulation Evaporator which evaporates 15KLPD which concentrates up to 50%, and a Triple Effect Evaporator which evaporates 40KLPD of Effluent which brings out the sludge with concentration upto 80%. I have designed it based on their Standard Designing Thumb rules and after lot of knowledge through books, but i have never found how to design an ATFD or ATFE or Distillation Unit. I was expecting help regarding that. Moreover, i know i am not qualified enough to start up a consultancy firm that is the reason i am in research now.
So folks, let me know if there's any method, or case studies that i can find for the Design of the above equipments.

I feel most of the knowledge lies in between the lines and you know what author means when you gain experience. Evaporation is vast topic, for example when you concentrate from say 10% to 80% , what are solids in the feed to evaporator? what are their solubulities at operating conditions, will they crystallize may call for trials. So is distillation... that is also a wide topic which not a single book or software or handbook can cater. pl have pataince I am sure you will aquire all the expertise with exposure and experience

  10. Buddy, i want to meet a person who is experienced and proficient enough with all these stuff, cos i can also learn those all with experience as you said, but i dont want to waste time in learning with experience.
So folks, let me know if there's any such person in India from whom i can get a better cognition.

I hope you would find suaitable masters soon.
You need a cencentration difference for mass to transfer, a thurst for knowldge for it to transfer. If have that the masters should find you. But then you need time difference for experience to transfer.
I wish you best luck in your pursuit.
