Hello respected members...
i got a new project on designing of bubble column reactor, which i certainly have no idea how to deal with it...
in tower the carbon dioxide is reacting with alkali water (NaOH+H2O) forming carbonic acid. The CO2 absorbing in alkali water is 1-5%. The remaining carbon dioxide would be in water. The carbonic acid then react with sodium hydroxide to form sodium carbonate.
Alkali has the PH of 11 to 12 .. which changes on being neutralization to 6 to 7.
This is a counter current operation. Gas is entering from bottom and alkali water from top..
the object is to find the design parameters and then
1. length of reactor
2. diameter of reactor
3. retention time for gas
4. liquid hold up
5. Gas hold up
the given data is
pressure difference in column is about 3 to 4 psi
water flow rate 2 meter cube/hour
1 meter cube of water carrying 3 kg of alkali....
i will be really thankful to every one who can guide me through the design process of this bubble column reactor...
