    expansion loop requirement

    Dear Friends,
is there any sample calculation or design guide to state when it is necessary to have an expansion loop, is it true: "generally when the expansion exceed to 300mm it is necessary to have an expansion loop and for less expansions it is not necessary"
    Thank you

  5. There is a smple calculation in every pipe support suppliers cataloue , for example you may go to Anvil website. Now a days , the supports and expansion loop calculations are done on piping flexibility analysis software like ceaser, CAE or some thing of that sort.

In my opinion, if piping has displacement (thermal movement) more than 120 - 150 mm. shall be has expansion loop to protect pipe clash with beside line.
