Thread: Instument with ESD Function

  1. Post Instument with ESD Function

    Dear Friends;

    Is there any body to help me about using of Transmitter insted of Switch for ESD function?
    I need referable standard and/or documents, fact and figure.
    for more explanation, for instance i think it is better to using PIT(pressure Ttansmitter) and take a software switch in ESD system for alam high High action insted of using
    PS(pressure Switch).
    it would be Appreciated if anyone reply to me.

    Best Regards

  3. Advantages of Transmitter:
    -Diagnostic features Via HART if any asset management packages are used. Which will reduce instrument failures leading to trips
    -Flexibility in changing setpoint in the ESD system after commissioning.
    -Pre alarm can be configured in ESD and relayed to the operator
    -HH/LL multiple trips can be initiated from the same instrument.

    Switch
    -safety engineers may prefer switched since its more reliable and trip setpoints will not be altered without proper documentation.
    -no diagnostics
