Heat Exchanger Thermal Design Methodology

Dear friends,
I have
1. Applied Process Desging for Chemical Plants book, by Ernest E. Ludwig
2. Process Heat Transfer by Donald Q. Kern

Also, red every article and download almost every spreadsheet for HE Therma Design.
However, it is a little difficult for me to establish proper methodology for HE thermal design, because, somhow, formulas for e.g. Nu are different from author to author.
My questions are:
1. Which standar covers methodology (step by step)
2. Do you have any suggestio about methodolgy, because I am goind to do application about this.

all the heat echanger in the world are designed for D :Q Kern and the apendix are the standar of heat exchanger for the TEMA group, then is the best however the ludwig it`s a good book in the design in the book has both method, you most flllow the kern method
