  1. For all people interested by Rock/Engineering Mechanics...

    Hello,

I hope all of you are in good health. Currently, I work for a company specialized in water well geological and mining drilling and I need to refresh my knowledge. So, if someone have these books (see below) and can give me a copy of all of them, this should be really helpful for me ...

    - Time Effects in Rock Mechanics (Materials Modelling & computation) by N. D. Cristescu and U. Hunsche
    - Boundaries of Rock Mechanics: Recent Advances and Challenges for the 21st Century by Meifeng Cai and Jin'An Wang
    - Excavations and Foundations in Soft Soils (Kindle Edition) by Hans-Georg Kempfert
    - Rock Mechanics & Rock Engineering by Springer Verlag

If you need something in these fields let me know. Thanks for your help.

    Hello,

I am so interested in rock mechanics, if you have information about it, I really want to learn.

    Thanks

Excavations and Foundations in Soft Soils
    by Hans-Georg Kempfert Berhane Gebreselassie

    Description:
The book reviews the experiences with, as well as recent developments and research results on excavations and foundations in and on soft soil deposits. Geotechnical design and execution of civil engineering structures on very soft soils are usually associated with substantial difficulties. The aim of the authors is to give the readers an overview of the state of the art of material properties of soft soils and their application in excavations, different types of foundations and stabilization methods. The authors emphasize, however, that an underground with soft soil layer should not a priori be classified as extremely difficult and highly cost intensive. By making use of advance knowledge in soft soil engineering so far as available in the field of geotechnical engineering, it is possible to attain a technically safe and economically justifiable solution for a particular construction project. The book is expected to contribute much in this regard." The book is intended to serve practisi

    Book Description:

Introduces a new approach to rock mechanics called ``block theory,'' which formalizes procedures for selecting proper shapes and orientations for excavations in hard jointed rock. Applies block theory to rock slopes and underground excavations, and covers the Q theory of rock classification, the empirical criterion of joint shear strength, rock bolting, properties of weak rocks, statistical frequency of jointing, an empirical criterion of rock strength, and design of underground supports. Contains many new problems with worked-out solutions.

  11. Hi Skavenses,
Could you tell me how to calculate rock strength in psi? do you have any software? or chart.
I am talking about the formation rock (drilling an oil and gas well).
