Thread: Streamline simulation and Assisted history matching

  1. Streamline simulation and Assisted history matching

    Hi all,
Does Eclipse provide a platform for assisted history matching or how can this be done ? which version of Eclipse if preferable for water flood management using streamlines (i.e has SLS properties such as well allocation factor and how this property is determined). I'm a novice user of streamline simulation technique and I 'm trying to do some work related to this method. i appreciate your responses in giving me some guidance.
    thx in advance.

Eclipse does not have any assisted history matching capability, SLB resells Cougar which has some proxy building functionality, but does not seem to be as suited to assisted history matching as the likes of MEPO and EnABLE

The only streamline simulator that is in the Eclipse suite is FrontSim. Understand though that streamline simulators, while promising to provide significant speedup under certain conditions (ie oil/water, relatively stable pressure etc) tend to only provide moderate speedup (in fact I once tried for a waterflood with very heterogeneous rock and it took longer than my E100 model) once you factor in all your non-ideal conditions.

E100 has the WCONINJP keyword, which allows you to specify a well that injects at a reservoir volume rate defined by the production of the wells that surround it. An example of this type of control would be to specify a well that injects at a rate equal to the sum of one quarter of the voidage from each of the four neighboring producers in a five spot pattern. FrontSim has the same keyword, and additionally the WCONPAT keyword which will optimize re-allocation of injection rate among a set of injectors by increasing rate in high performance injectors and reduce in low performance injectors

If you have Petrel RE, it is actually fairly easy to create a E100 deck, and a FrontSim deck and compare run-times.
