Hi to everyone,
In real, I'm spanish native speaker and am looking for business in translation of technical standard, specially within oil&industry, to spanish for a complementary comprehension among clients.
Some clients are interested but they would like to know the legal issues regarding the translation. Some of them say that I will be selling a work that belongs to the standard organization (i.e. ISO, ASTM, API, etc), others say I will only be selling my translation work.
Would I be violating copyright terms?
Should I sell the translated standard along with the original standard, and thus, pay to the issuing organization?
If you have reached into an scenario like this in your company. Please comment.
Thanks Walter.
