In our company there are a lot of separators (pressure vessels).
Some of there have not sheet plate, neither papers which document year of construction, design pressure, material of construction, etc.
We will make thickness measurements and we will use API 510 for re-rate them.
But a question come to me.
As our measurements are taken in some sections (windows) we don't have the exact minimum thickness.
What would happen if we reach yield strenght during hydraulic test?
The vessel would fail or would pass the test.
I am not considering that during the test will reach failure strenght. I am considering that in small zone we will abandon the elastic strenght zone and pass to yield strenght zone.
