    Plastic Pipelines in Refineries

    Dear all,

In our petroluem refinery, we are thinking of using plastic pipes (UPVC) for caustic soda drainage from process vessels in some chemical treatment units like LPG Amine and Kerosene Merox, this is mainly for ease of installation (no welding) and better resistance to caustic soda.

Did anyone experience similar cases, and are there any articles/codes/technical information about use of UPVC piping in refinery services ? we are concerned of the risk and safety in case of fire, but we plan to cover these pipes with concrete.

    Any information ?

    Thanks.

You can use UPVC for industrial use according to BS 3506 and BS EN ISO 15493

    Please see attachments
