Dear All,

I want to know about the effects of alloying elements on crystal structure/grains so that the mechanical properties varies. Example: manganese improves hardenability and ductility, but what does the manganese do with the crystal structure or bonding so that the these properties are improved.
I know this is very basic question and may be I have already asked similar question but really i could not get answer. I will be thankful to all member who can really show some light on this issue.
