Thread: How to add a function for specific heat capacity variation in Hysys

  1. How to add a function for specific heat capacity variation in Hysys

I am new to ASPEN HYSYS. I am working in the field of cryogenic process simulation. In the cryogenic systems, during cooldown of the plant, the temperature varies from room temperature to the as low as 4 K. During the simulation of this process, as the specific heat capacity of the metal of heat exchangers varies, I also have to incorporate the variation in Hysys to get more realistic results. So, can anybody suggest me how we can add a function to the heat exchanger?

Note: As per the Aspen support, we can not modify the zone properties of LNG heat exchangers.

are u doing a dynamic simulation ? if yes , in order to solve ur problem ... import the specific heat capacity of the metal of heat exchangers from a spread sheet , and use a standered ramp fuction to change the value of heat capacity .

  5. Thanks for your suggestion and yes, I am doing a dynamic simulation.
I already have tried using spreadsheet to export the same to the heat exchanger (LNG), but it did not work. The zone properties (metal Cp, thermal conductivity etc.) of the LNG heat exchangers are not exportable from spreadsheet.
However, I tried this option again and it did not work.
