ASPEN + Windows 7 Compatibility Problem

Well, I didn't have any license recognition problem. My problem has to do only with compatibility. Which Windows 7 Edition do you have installed? Mine is Windows 7 64bit Professional.

I used Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit and it worked perfectly. Now I use a genuine copy of W7 professional but I haven't installed ASPEN V7 yet.

anyone else have trouble selecting a base method?

have aspen plus 2006 running ok under windows 7 ultimate 64 bit, installed fine after an install as administrator, but no matter what i do whenever i select a base method the "box" remains empty, even w all methods listed, simple components?

i was wondering if it may be sql related in some way (had to download separate sql service for 7 as it wasnt built in) but thought would see if anyone else had had similar issues

Well, try use "enter" rather than click by using mouse. It works for me. I also had install aspen plus 2006 on W7 home premium 64 bit. But my problems is the help file is missing. I think it has something to do with the MSDE which is not available in W7. So, anyone have any idea??

-well i had solve the problems with Windows update KB917607 (Windows Help program (WinHlp32.exe) for Windows 7)

Get Microsoft Virtual PC ( XP Mode ) and start using Aspen 7.1 in windows 7 ( Tested by Me )

I've installed Aspen V7.1 on my laptop which uses windows vista 64 bits but it doesn't working proprely becaues a problem of SQL 2005 server which is not compatible with the 64 bits the SQL 2005 server is only compatible with 32 bits, so I tried to unstall SQL server 2005 manually as required but it doesn't also worked, so you've to check first the version of 32 bits of windows. but my question is does Aspen V 7.1 compatible with windows seven please give me a feedbakc I'm waiting? thank in advacne for your help.

Well i once had install the Aspen V7.1 on Windows 7 and it works well. But, you need to install something beforehand since there are some compatibility issues with W7. You will know what W7 is missing during the aspen installation process.

try to look for SQL 2005 express..Microsoft has one for x64..

Hi there, I am also having compatibility problems install Aspen and Hysys on my wndows 7 home premium 64 bit system. It had install very well on my pc which runs windows 7 ultimate (32bit). Can any one, if they had found the solution, to post their procedure? Running the SQL server 2008 (tried both 64 and 32 bit) does not solve the error as with my pc. Thanks very much!!

recently i installed Aspen hysys 7.3 on both 32 bit & 64 bit OS.
The procedure i followed is generate the l-i*c-e-n-s-e and extract strgxi2.dll file in the l-i*c-e-n-s-e folder,
first install dotnet software if required, if it isn't then it will show that your operating system doesn't require this up gradation.
Then install Sql server which is given in 3rd party browser folder ( after extracting the iso of aspen 7.3)
just check or uncheck the security box to insure that you are able go NEXT and install it
after this run setup , add l-i*c-e-n-s-e and make sure that 710 l-i*c-e-n-s-e need to be found. continue with installation and when all the installation complete itself. before restarting the pc copy the dll file and the genrated l-i*c-e-n-s-e file to" \program files\common files\hyprotech\shared " folder
& enjoy using 7.3 ... nothing wrong will happen in sha Allah....

still it is not cpmpetible with windows 7, it require to run PC in XP mode but is available in windows 7 professional and Windows 7 ultimate only
