Thread: How to choose the solution for removing CO2 from Natural gas

  1. As per my experience DEA is better choice to remove CO2, I have seen use of DEA to reduce CO2 conc. from 12 mol% down to 2 mol%. DEA concentration used is in the range of approx 35 wt%.

Generic MDEA can be used, but for MDEA proprietary MDEA is preferable.

I presumed that you need to build a NGL or LPG recovery process and CO2, H20 removal is required. Ortloff is a great name for this type of technology, please find some information about that

In addition, The removal of water is aimed at preventing hydrate formation in the pipeline. Hydrates if allowed to be formed, block the pipeline thereby hindering or stopping gas flow. Try to read up more hydrates.

In many plants of LNG reduce CO2 with aMDEA(MDEA activated) , o mixed amine to reduce the concetration to 50ppm , exclusively to avoid dry ice formation in the mean criogenic Heat Exchanger
