VdS CEA 4001 if someone ask:
not less then 36 hours, no matter what fire hazard.

"8.3.3 Zulaufraten für Vorratsbehälter
Die Wasserquelle muß in der Lage sein, den Vorratsbehälter innerhalb von
36 Stunden wieder aufzufüllen."

Hi zaconja:

Thanks for your post. Just one comment and please correct me if I'm wrong.

Instead of saying "not less than 36 hours, no matter what fire hazard", I guess it should state the opposite; that is "not more than 36 hours, no matter what fire hazard". Otherwise, it would mean that it is prohibited to replenish the supply in less that 36 hours and there is no upper limit (e.g. one week would be OK).

Regards

Yes, my fault, I wrote one thing, thinking about other things ....
No longer than 36 hours is correct.

related to the water tank for fire fighting in hotels, can also be used water from a large swimming pool?
Not from the pool that serves to compensate for water in large pools, rather than just from a large pool where guests can swim?

Is there someone in the group experience with common containers of water for sprinklers and outdoor hydrant network?
Eg. for the case when a fire pump should work for sprinkler and hydrant network? Must be mounted relief valve for pressure reducing, only for the indoor hydrant network, which consumes a small amount of water?

regards,
zaconja

Hi zaconja:

What do you mean by common containers of water for sprinklers and outdoor hydrant network?

in the engineering design for process safety(CCPS),secrtion 16.3.3 fire water supplies,"the onsite dedicated fire water storage should have the capability of replenishment within 24 hours." I think this requirement is reasonable.

but if the plant water & fire water are supplied through a common pipeline, in my opinion, the fire water replenishment time shall not be the decisive factor to design a pipeline.the design capacity of the pipeline shall be decided by the plant water for production, rather than that of fire water.

In chinese standards, the fire water make-up time is not longer than 96h in oil & gas separation plants, and not longer than 48h in oil refineries, but I can not find the requirements in international standard.can somebody tell me?
To be frank it depends on the filling capacity of the machinery. In most cases it can be early also or it may take more than 96 hrs also.
