    My suggestion:

+ Download & install XP Mode with below link:

[link Point to another website Only the registered members can access]
+ Install Aspen One 7.1 in virtual XP computer.

For me, it´s the best solution for Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits

Yeah, I installed Aspen 7.1 in Win 7 64bit. I followed instruction of someone in this forum. Basicly he said "The problem is that the SQL Manager needs this Backward Compatibility module installed..in x86 form. And the installer of this Backward Compatibility in x86 does not run under x64 OS, hence the error. And the funny thing is, that if you install prior to this the x64 Backward Compatibility, the SQL installer won`t recognize it, it will still give you that error. So, we must trick the system somehow in allowing the x64 Backward Compatibility to be used. For this, search via Google this Backward Compatibility program, find the website and download the x64. After that find in the directories of Aspen DVD kit the 'core' folder and within it the 'SQL2k5Exprs'..now, copy the x64 variant of the Backward Compatibility in that folder, and rename it just like the original one, SQLServer2005_BC.msi, keeping this original one for backup somewhere else." (Sorry, I forgot this guy's name and the link) It works for me in installation part. The problem disturbs me now is while the other parts seems work, the Aspen plus user interface started, saying" connecting to the local server..", waiting for about 20 seconds and quit automatically.

Hi, I did the same way before, It could pass the Backward Compatibility problem, but still error happens during HYSYS installation.

To install AspenOne 7.1 on windows 7 64bit as was explained by other colleagues, the problem is with SQLServer2005_BC. To overcome this
    1. Copy your DVD contents to your hard disk.
    2. Download from internet "SQLSERVER2005_BC_x64" and copy it to the core folder of "aspenONEV7.0dvd1\AES\aspenonev7.0dvd1\core\SQL2K5 Expr"
    3. Make a copy of SQLServer2005_BC
    4. Rename "SQLSERVER2005_BC_x64" to "SQLServer2005_BC", you trick AspenOne to use this Backward Compatibility file instead of the original 32 bit one.
    5. Run your setup as usual and follow your installation instruction, that's all
    Note
If you want make a copy of the new installation files on a DVD for 64bit systems

    Good luck

  16. Re: Aspen One V7.1 Windows 7 Problem

Can anyone please suggest me any idea to install Hysys 7.1 in Windows Server 2008 r2 enterprise edition as it is giving Microsoft SQL Server incompatibility error with the WS 2008R2. Else suggest OS that will take both Hysys 7.1 and SAP as idont wish to maintain dual OS.
