For households, I would imagine that it should have the temperature depending on the its transport. From its last compressor station until to the houses, the natural gas shall have the transport ambient temperature, nothing special (if not insulated or some reasons). For example, what is the temperature of the household water? We do not care unless its frozen.
What is the lowest temperature that gas has during its transport in the pipelines?
For this one, you usually do not want to lower the temperature near its dew point. It can cause liquid build up some locations in the flowline which is not desired. But normally, processed dry natural gas has a very low dew point between -50 to -30 Celsius. During its transport, it shall retain the ambient temperature. If transfered from offshore platforms, in North Sea, it can be around 3 - 4 Celsius in winter. In warmer climates, it should be more not surprisingly.
If the natural gas in not dehydrated enough, monitoring the temperature is extremely important because of hydrate formation risk.
In the discharge of the last compressors and coolers (if any), there can be a PCV which can reduce the temperature significantly due to J-T effect. Here the aim is not reduce the pressure of export gas but to maintain a certain compressor discharge pressure for compressor performance.
The design temperature of transport pipelines can also be a constraint, which normally should not be below -10 Celsius to my knowledge.
