Thread: PDG (Permanent Downhole Gauges)

  1. PDG (Permanent Downhole Gauges)

    Dear all,

I posted this message to request your help to get any document or ideas about the PDG (Permanent Downhole Gauges).
How we use their data ? How we interpret them ? How we can interpret the data in the case of a multilayered reservoir ?

For me I try to see the evolution of IPR using the data of these downhole gauges also I try to monitor the pressure difference to check if there is any bottlenecking in the tubing. But I think that we can get more from them

    Regards

If you have enough rate vs time data, you may use Topace software from Kappa, in order to predict the bottom hole pressure. It is clear that you must suppose a model. Other solution is to use SAPHIR also from kappa and select a period of flow and try to get the best match, later you must compare the pressure history (real) vs predicted with the model for the whole flow history (use the cartesian plot.

You may have distortion due to interference with other wells, but using saphir or Topace, you may minimize these effects.

The problem with PDG is that you may have trouble with sensors and you must clear the data.

  5. For the second part I understand what you suggested. But for the first part I think that I have the bottom hole pressure from the PDG itself and the problem that I have an averaged rate (BHP each 5 second but a daily average rate).

I will try to apply what you have suggested on the next couples of weeks and I hope that you assist me. Also if you have the following spe papers or any valuable materials on this subjects please upload it or send it to me via mail (mansi.walid@gmail.com).
