A schematic is a diagram of well configuration which describes:

1. WH information (sizes, ratings, capacities). This info is important for operations guys planning ti intervene on the well or frac it.

2. Tubulars such as Casings, tubing(s), their landed depth and ratings. This info is important for Operations guys they want to know the weight of the tools downhole so they choose the right rig and size of the tools. Production eng. needs this info for calc capacitites.

3. Other installed tools (nipples, packers etc) Importart mostly to operations guys (especially ID restrictions) but also to prod eng (how the well is flowing)

4. Perforations. Important to geologists (net pay indicator), res eng for volumetric analysis, prod eng for hydraulic calc, and operations guys for depth/weight calc.

5. Other elements on schematic are indicator of past interventions to the well such as BP, squeeezes, casing -----es etc. A schematic can als include info about direction, terrain, rods etc.


Schematic itself is not a hard thing to read. Knowing all the tools and understanding the shit the previous owners/operators have done to the well is more difficult.
