Question Questions - plz help .

1- what is fluid tracking ? objectives ? tools to track water front?

2- What is the single well/sector modeling ? objectives of a single well model ?

3- What are the monitoring surveys ? objectives ? who plans them ? who implememt ? and who are the end users ?

your help is much appreciated .. Thanks alot !

    1) Most often it is used in Water Floods to try and understand WHERE the injected water is REALLY going. In the real world the injected water will not evenly move in all directions between the injector and the producers in a given pattern.

From your questions it would seem that they are all related to flooding a reservoir, hence secondary recovery processes.

Much of what you want to know is in this paper

Well here are my interpretation :
1- fluid tracking is to monitor the advance of the front when you are flooding the reservoir, if it's water injection you can monitor by injecting some tracers with the water, for gas injection you can monitor it with 4 D seismic, also the RST (Reservoir saturation tool) and PLT (Production logging tool) would tell you which part is flooded with the injected fluid.
2- Single (Sector) well modelling is a process to understand the near well bore effect (understand well performance: Skin, near wellbore permeability and study possible interventions), You could also try to match the Pressure transient effect by single well modelling, one very important parameter is to make sure that your radius of investigations is big enough to rich the pseudo steady state.
3- monitoring are : tracers injections, PLT, RST, 4D seismic .... objective is to detect the origin of any change in well performance, Production(Petroleum) engineers do the planning together with Reservoir engineers and G&G people, the End user are the Petroleum technology
