  1. Pressure Vessel Design - Consideration of Pressure Thrust

    Hello Everybody,

Is it required to consider pressure thrust while analyzing a nozzle on pressure vessel for local loads (due to piping reactions) using rules of WRC 107 and or WRC 297 publications?

    Regards,

Re: Pressure Vessel Design - Consideration of Pressure Thrust

The phenomenon of pressure thrust is very complicated. It completely depends on the stiffness of the piping system attached to nozzle.

If you client has specify the same in design specification then you can add pressure thrust in 107/297 analysis.
If not, then do not use the same as applying the pressure thrust fully will be very conservative.

    Thanks.
