Yes, you can reduce the Bottom hole pressure (BHP). A simple explanation comes from the following equation relating Surface Tubing Pressure (THP), Hydrostatic pressure (Phyd) and Pressure losses due to friction (Pfric):
THP+Phyd = BHP+Pfric
Therefore: BHP = THP+Phyd-Pfric
By taking a look of this simple eq. you can infer that by reducing the THP (e.g. opening a surface choke) and/or reducing Phyd (e.g. gas lift operations and artificial lift methods) you'll be able to reduce the BHP. Artificial lift methods allows the reduction of the fluid column within the wellbore (i.e. fluid level), therefore reducing Phyd.
