Syngas Treatment

Hi all,

I'm currently working on a project whereby i must design a treatment process for our plant. The mass balances show the impurities which must be removed are particulates, sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxide. I will be designing these in 3 seperate stages.

For particulate removal:
I have done some background research and found a wet scrubber and the possibility of using a pre-cleaner such as a cyclone could work and be capable to remove particulates to the standards required. I have hit a brick wall at designing the wet scrubber however, there's plenty of background information but not much on sizing. Also is there any sources for the size of particulates in certain areas? (we are using the plessey seam in the North East of England) and also when and why a pre-cleaner is required?.

For Sulphur Dioxide removal:
I initially was going to use H2S but this seems to costly to remove again. Im now looking into using CaCO3 in a fluidised bed.

For NO removal:
I was thinking of using NH3, need to do a bit more research though.
