  • Training Courses: Switching from Chemical Engg to Petroleum/Reservoir Engg??

    Salam,

I am a chemical engineer who graduated few months back. I am doing an internship in a company based in Oil industry business and I am very much interested in this direction. I want to enhance my career in this direction but looks like there is a lot to be done in order to cross the transition between Chemical engineering to Petroleum/ Reservoir Engineering.
I want to attend some training course/ Seminars/ or even part time degree program which can help in my transition phase.
So if anyone of you know about some good training course/ Seminars/ part time degree program offered in Texas, US area please let me know. I am also doing the homework for the same but not able to decide what to start with and which one is a good option.

Thank you for the reply in advance.

      Hi,

I am currently a senior petroleum engineer. I followed the same path more than 10 years ago when I graduated as a process engineer and I'm really satisfied with what I've done. Petroleum/Reservoir engineering is much of fluid mechanic in porous media. So it is process engineering after all. Remember that Darcy was a process engineer (hydraulics). With a good knowledge in reservoir geology and some field training you are good to go.
So go ahead and good luck.
