Hello,
I´m working in a project regarding the installation of a preflash column in a Crude Unit. The objective is to reduce heater load and avoid vaporisation in the preheat train.
I´m concerned about the design of the column.
From bibliography, it seems that this service can be a severe foaming type and several cases of column malfunction have been informed.
I would appreciate guidelines regarding the design of the preflash column inlet and bottom sump, in order to cope with foam.
I found recommendations as:
- 15 minutes residence time in the column bottom sump
- liquid downfload velocity 2 ft/min in the bottom sump
I would appreciate any other recommendation or experience that could be shared.
