We as a process engineer very often design heatexchangers. But the question is which design on softwares like HTRI and Aspen exchanger suit can be considered best as design or design which cannot be challenged.
No doubt we have to match the basic requirement like duty and respective flow on either side and temperature of outlet streams.
Than comes velocity and pressure drop criteria and vibration criteria followed by velocity limitation at entrance.
After meeting above criteria and following a slight common sense and using first principles one may get a convergence( solution) on soft wares and this design may give the desired results,but this design may not be the best or optimized design.So can some some one give a systematic approach for best design after convergence( solution) given by soft wares.I have developed my own approach but will like members to share their thought process and if some one can share aan example it will be great.
