Can you tell more clear abotu this kind of procedure. i have ever heard about this. I am from a company that make a steel pipe for offshore structure and pipeline. So we can discuss more about this.

There are different procedures for H2S in crude, H2S in water and H2S in gas. Typically you test on fresh samples.

H2S in Crude measurement is usually done by purging the dissolved gas in crude sample by inert gas (e.g. N2) and detected by Drager or Gastec staining tubes.

H2S in water measurement can be done by 1.) HACH method - purging and using Lead acetate paper for color stain comparison to a standard chart; 2.) CHEMETS methylene blue method - total acid soluble sulfide, not just H2S.

H2S in Gas - usually Drager or Gastec staining tubes, other analyzers and of course GC (online or offline).

These measurements can be done with or without pressure. Depends on your needs and accuracy requirement, there should be procedures to accommodate.

A whole suite of testing in all three phases is good when you want to run some mass balance calculations, provided you have the relevant information on pressure, temperature and flow rates etc. This, though not to its greatest accuracy, can help you understand the H2S flow.
